Alkira accommodation includes 41 units comprising with single en suite rooms. Each room is a single occupancy unit.
There are 5 sets of interconnecting rooms ideally suited for couples. two rooms are specifically designed to cater to high care/frail people. One room has a kitchenette facility and outdoor covered patio. Alkira has been designed with four wings, three wings named in honour of three original executive committee members:
• Ray Warne (A wing)
• Josephine Staughton (B wing)
• Doug Heath (C wing)
• The fourth wing, built in 2000 is named in honour of major contributor, Mr William (Bill) Broadhead
The Sister Judith Carney chapel is in the Broadhead Wing and conducts weekly chapel services, Communion, Anointing and Prayer Group meetings.
The central area is made up of the entry foyer, administration, training/meeting room, nurse’s office, kitchen, activity/lounge area and dining room. Alkira is surrounded by an expanse of lawns, shade trees, walking paths and a ANZAC memorial garden, designed by staff and residents.
