HammondCare Wahroonga

HammondCare Wahroonga has been designed using internationally recognised best practice principles, to promote choice, minimise confusion and maximise independence for residents with dementia. Research shows people living with dementia are most comfortable in small, familiar environments, which is why our care home is comprised of six individual apartments.

Our vision is to enable people to have choice. We believe each person should have every opportunity to live as independently as possible, function at their greatest potential, and enjoy life as they want to. We recognise the importance of both physical and social environments for promoting independence, dignity, and feelings of comfort, safety and security.

We actively encourage family and friends to be our partners in care. We want to create an experience based on truly knowing and understanding the person we are caring for. Relatives and friends are encouraged to assist residents in decorating their rooms with familiar photos, furniture and memorabilia to become homely and comfortable. Residents’ memories are precious possessions, and care is taken to help them remember their lives so that their self-esteem and identity are maintained.
